The Emptiness

The pearl of our

world floats in

the Emptiness,

unfurled like a

blanket, black,

woven from cosmic

spider-silk.

The ancient gods,

the creating ones,

birthed it like

an oyster with

sand in its shell

and wove the blanket

to protect it well.

Their babe,

this pearl,

is swaddled and safe,

wrapped in black,

unable to see

the face

of its mother

or the ancient gods

that be.
