The Poet’s Prayer

If you’re listening,
hear my honesty.
Hear my truth,
dedication, and
blasphemy.

My thoughts are Rhapsody…

Listen to my soul,
this heart uncaged,
the careless fumbling
to express a love
with oft-spewed rage,

poured upon the page.

Hear the images,
those vivid implants,
clawing deep, staying,
or the breezy whims of
Muses, Fates, or the

Gods of the Day…

It is rare to hear
me pray. I, the atheist,
wouldn’t have much
to say. But today, I pray
in Something’s name,
that I, the poet,

will always change.
